Mount Cook Aerodrome

Mount Cook Aerodrome (IATA: MON, ICAO: NZMC) is an airport near Mount Cook Village, New Zealand. The Aerodrome is located within Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park at the end of State Highway 80, only 15 kilometres south of the country’s highest mountain, the mighty Aoraki/Mt Cook.

Regular commercial flights originally ceased in 2002, however from the 23rd of December 2012 to the 27th of January 2013, Air New Zealand subsidiary Mount Cook Airline operated thrice weekly services from Mount Cook to Christchurch Airport and Queenstown Airport.

Air New Zealand decided not to resume the services for the 2013/2014 summer due to a lack of demand.

Currently, there are ski planes, scenic flights, and scenic helicopters operating from this aerodrome.

The airport resides at an elevation of 2,153 ft (656 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 13/31 with paved surface measuring 4,833 feet (1,473 m) in length.
