Wellington Airport is located about 8 km from Wellington city center. The
average journey is 15 to 25 minutes depending on traffic condition.
Metlink Route 2 Bus
The Metlink Route 2 bus is a regular bus service. It travels through the city to
Seatoun. It will take you within 7 minutes (around 700m) walk of the airport.
The Hobart Street at Broadway Stop 7033 is the closest to the airport.
Note: please check the front of the bus to ensure it says Route 2 – Seatoun for
airport travel (the service alternates with Route 2 - Miramar, which does not go
towards the airport).
Airport Express
The Airport Express service travels between the Wellington Airport and
Wellington Railway Station. Travel time between the railway station and the
airport is around 25-35 minutes depending on traffic. Payment is accepted with a
Snapper card, cash, or contactless debit or credit card.
The route runs seven days a week between Wellington Station, along Lambton Quay
and through Kilbirnie to Wellington Airport.
At Wellington International Airport, exit the airport terminal from the ground
floor out of Door E and follow the signs to the Airport Express.
At Wellington Station (Lambton Interchange) the AX departs and arrives at the
dedicated Airport Express Stop B.
Stopping through Wellington’s CBD (from Lambton Quay, Willis Street, Manners
Street to Courtenay Place), Kilbirnie and Hataitai. CDB stops are within 5
minutes' walk to most of the central city’s hotels, offices and attractions.

Airport Shuttle
An airport shuttle is a cheaper option than taking a taxi if you’re travelling
on your own or in a large group. Shuttle ranks can be found directly outside the
baggage claim area on Level 0 of the main terminal, but you can book online or
download the free app. Super Shuttle shared-ride fares offer substantial
discounts for passengers traveling in the same group to the same destination.
Costs vary depending on your destination, but a shuttle to/from Wellington city
center starts at NZD$18.00.
Taxi
Taxi ranks can be found directly outside the baggage claim area on Level 0 of
the main terminal (Use Door G). The taxi fares may vary between service
providers, a Taxi / Executive Cab to / from Wellington city center can cost
between NZ$40 to NZ$50.
