Young children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered to be Unaccompanied Minors. If you are allowing your child to fly alone as an unaccompanied minor, be sure to take every necessary precaution to ensure his or her safety.

Etihad Airways Unaccompanied Minor service is available for children aged 5 to 17 years old. Before you can request the service, the first thing you need to do is book your child's flight.

Children under five are not permitted to fly alone. They must travel with a parent or guardian at all times.

Children aged 5 to 11 can use our Unaccompanied Minor service for free. They must be booked on a normal adult fare.

Children aged 12 to 17 are permitted to travel on their own adult ticket, but you may prefer to pay to use our Unaccompanied Minor service. Guests between 12 and 17 are not permitted to escort an Unaccompanied Minor. Legal parents below the age of 18 will be permitted to accompany infants or children with relevant identification.

The costs is US $100 each way on direct flights or US $150 each way for connecting flights.

If you change your child’s flight, you will need to submit a new Unaccompanied Minor service request. Make sure you do this at least 24 hours before your child’s flight – you may be charged if you request the service at the airport. For children aged 12 to 17, you will only be requested to pay again if you change from a direct flight to a connecting flight.
