Passengers traveling with Air China
are welcome to bring:

Carry-on Baggage
• Each First Class / Business Class passenger can carry two (2) pieces of
carry-on baggage, with each weighing no more than eight (8) kilos (17 lbs.).
• Each Economy Class passenger can carry up to one piece of carry-on baggage
that weighs no more than five (5) kilos (11 lbs.).
The linear dimensions of each piece of carry-on baggage shall not exceed 55
centimeters (22 in.) in length, 40 centimeters (16 in.) in width and 20
centimeters (8 in.) in height, which ensures that the carry-on baggage can be
stowed in the closed overhead compartment or fit under the seat in front of you
onboard the aircraft.
Any baggage that cannot be stowed in the overhead compartment or fit under the
seat, or baggage that is overweight or oversized, or baggage that consider could
jeopardize safety should be carried as checked baggage.
Free Baggage Allowance on Transportation in Mainland China
1. Dimensions of Checked Baggage on Domestic Transportation
The length, width and height of each piece of baggage shall not exceed 100 cm
(40 in), 60 cm (24 in) and 40 cm (16 in).
2. Free Allowance for Ordinary Checked Baggage on Domestic Transportation
(1) In the case of passengers with adult ticket or child ticket, the baggage
allowance is 40 kg (88 lb) for First Class, 30 kg (66 lb) for Business Class and
20 kg (44 lb) for Economy Class.
(2) In the case of passengers with infant ticket, the baggage allowance is 10 kg
(22 lb). In addition, a foldable baby stroller or cradle can be checked for
free.
(3) In the case of PhoenixMiles Lifetime Platinum members and Platinum members,
in addition to the original basic baggage allowance, one additional piece of
ordinary baggage can be checked for free, which shall not weigh 30 kg (66 lb).
(4) In the case of PhoenixMiles Gold members and Silver members, in addition to
the original basic baggage allowance, one additional piece of ordinary baggage
can be checked for free, which shall not weight over 20 kg (44 lb).
(5) In the case of Star Alliance Gold members, in addition to the original basic
baggage allowance, one additional piece of ordinary baggage can be checked for
free, which shall not weigh over 20 kg (44 lb).
Excess baggage fee with regard to the part in excess must be paid if the checked
baggage exceeds the upper limits on the weight, dimensions or the number of
pieces.
Free Checked Baggage Allowance on International / Regional Routes
Air China uses the piece concept for International Carriage.
Free checked baggage allowance are as stated below:
(1) Dimensions
The total dimensions (length + width + height, including wheels and handles) of
each piece must not exceed 158 cm (62 in).
(2) Weight
• First / Business Class
For first / business class, adult and child passengers may check in two items of
baggage for free, each weighing up to 32 kg (70 lb).
• Economy Class passengers
(i) Economy Class passengers travelling on the following routes may check in one
item of baggage for free weighing up to 23 kg (50 lb):
Air China-operated routes to Europe, Africa, the Middle East (excluding the UAE),
Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan, Kazakhstan, Australia and New Zealand), Hong
Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Hawaii.
(ii) Economy Class passengers travelling on the following routes may check in
two items of baggage for free, each weighing up to 23 kg (50 lb):
Air China-operated routes to the Americas (excluding Hawaii), Japan, the UAE,
Kazakhstan, Australia and New Zealand.
• Infant passengers
Infant passengers in any booking class may check in one item of baggage for
free, weighing up to 23 kg (50 lb), plus one folding baby cot, stroller or
cradle (for infant passengers only).
• PhoenixMiles members
PhoenixMiles Lifetime Platinum, Platinum, Gold and Silver members when
travelling in First or Business Class may check in one additional item of
baggage for free, weighing up to 32 kg (70 lb); when travelling in Economy Class
may check in one additional item of baggage for free, weighing up to 23 kg (50
lb).
• Star Alliance members
Star Alliance Gold members may check in one additional piece of baggage for
free, weighing up to 23 kg (50 lb).
Athletic Sports Equipment
Sports guns and bullets should only be carried as checked baggage along with the
required certificates issued by the competent authorities. They should be locked
and packed separately and their carriage is subject to Air China’s approval.
Each passenger can check bullets of up to 5kg (11 lbs) (gross weight).
Passengers traveling in groups should pack their bullets separately. These items
would not qualify for the free baggage allowance and would be charged as
overweight baggage. Passengers who check guns and bullets should complete all
the required formalities 90 minutes before departure.
